Blog Flash 2012: Day 6

This is the sixth entry out of the thirty I'm attempting. It is part of a series of thirty entries so I hope you'll read each daily post to find out what happens in the end.
Thank you for reading!
6. Reading

The afternoon had been tiring but the callers were now long gone. Despite the occasional soporific bouts of poetry, she’d somehow remained perfectly demure the entire time.
Later, he’d remained downstairs, a flight of stairs and a few plaster walls away from her. Silly though it was, she’d pressed an ear to the wall in hopes of hearing his breath, expecting it as if it were her own. She hadn’t, but his stubborn yells hadn’t helped her attempt at reading.
Later still, the petulant man-child finally decided to leave.
She’d watched from between the curtains, book silenced on the floor.

  2. If she's listening through plaster walls to hear his breath...it's telling her something! She needs to listen to her heart...
